Parish School of Religion (PSR)

The PSR (Parish School of Religion) is for public school students in Preschool (age 4 before June 30 of the current school year), Kindergarten, and grades 1 - 8.

All families wishing to enroll their children in PSR must be registered members of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish. To register with our parish, please call the Church Office (330) 264-8824.
The PSR Process is held on Sunday mornings during the school year from 9:30 a.m. – 10:40 a.m. in the school building. Registration forms are available in the Parish Hall during the month of August. Saint Mary Directory of Faith Formation, Kelly Hassenzahl, and PSR teachers will be available after all Masses on the last weekend in August for PSR Registration. PSR classes begin the Sunday after the Wayne County Fair.

The Blest Are We program is our current PSR curriculum. For additional information on this curriculum and for family activity resources, please visit www.blestarewe.com.

Download the PSR Registration Packet. Please fill out one PSR Registration form per family.  Each child then needs each of the other forms filled out.  Call Donna at 330.264.5838 should you have any questions.  Registrations are due back to the Religious Education Office by September 4, 2011.

MIC (Mary of the Immaculate Conception) Youth Ministry

MIC Youth Ministry, a Eucharist-centered Catholic youth ministry, is committed to empowering the youth of our parish to live as disciples of Jesus Christ daily, encouraging the youth to fully participate in the life of the Church, and caring for the total wellbeing of all the teens entrusted to our care.  Aided by the Holy Spirit, we strive to accomplish these commitments by providing vibrant and varied opportunities such as MIC Nights, scripture studies, hang-outs, discipleship groups, retreats, mission trips, social events, etc. for the youth to grow deeper in their relationships with Christ and others.

Sacramental Preparation

Reconciliation and First Communion - “ Holy Family Process”

Holy Family is the sacramental preparation process for parish families with children preparing to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. The first session is the parent/guardian. Together, we will explore the sacraments and gain a greater understanding of how the reception of these gifts enrich and nourish us in our daily lives. We are required by the Diocese of Cleveland to provide this faith formation process.

Children will be instructed by their teachers in the PSR Process and the Saint Mary Day School. Children who were unable to receive the sacraments in Second Grade will be meeting with Mrs. Hassenzahl for their instruction. We will provide the proper catechesis required for your children to be fully prepared to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion.

Registration for Reconciliation, First Communion and Family Faith Formation opportunities will be in September.

Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation celebrated in our parish on a yearly basis. Our goal is to foster the growth and spirituality of the child to prepare them for a life of apostleship after being sealed and sent through the sacrament of Confirmation. This is done through catechesis, spiritual discernment, family learning and fellowship among peers.

After completing 7th grade catechesis, parishioners in entering into 8th grade and above – including interested adults may register for the Confirmation Process during mid April for the following school year. Please see the bulletin for details or contact Caitlin Schratz at ymstmarys@gmail.com with questions.
